Audit every byte on your GoHighLevel funnel page. Inventory scripts, images, and fonts - then set hard budgets and prioritize the fixes that move your PageSpeed score the most.

Current Page Inventory

Measure everything before you cut anything

Record total page weight from Chrome DevTools Network tab (reload with cache disabled)

Open DevTools → Network → check "Disable cache" → reload. Note the "transferred" total at the bottom.

Record HTML document size (the initial HTML response in bytes)

Filter by "Doc" in DevTools Network. GHL pages often have 80-200KB of inline HTML due to the page builder.

Record total CSS size (all stylesheets combined)

Filter by "CSS" in DevTools Network. Sum all stylesheet sizes. Target: under 100KB total.

Record total JavaScript size (all scripts combined)

Filter by "JS" in DevTools Network. Sum all script sizes. Target: under 200KB for landing pages.

Record total image weight (all images combined)

Filter by "Img" in DevTools Network. This is usually 60-80% of total page weight on GHL funnels.

Record total font weight (all web fonts combined)

Filter by "Font" in DevTools Network. Each font file is typically 20-50KB. Target: under 100KB total.

Script Audit

Every script earns its spot or gets removed

List every third-party script by name and file size (GTM, pixels, chat, analytics)

Open DevTools → Network → filter "JS" → sort by size. Document each script name and its transferred size.

Mark each script as KEEP, DEFER, or REMOVE based on business value

KEEP = critical for conversion tracking. DEFER = load after interaction (chat widgets). REMOVE = unused or duplicate.

Identify scripts that block rendering (loaded without async/defer)

Render-blocking scripts are the #1 LCP killer. Check each <script> tag for async or defer attributes.

Check for duplicate scripts (GTM loaded twice, multiple analytics instances)

GHL platform scripts + your custom scripts often overlap. Use Google Tag Assistant to detect duplicates.

Calculate total JS savings if you remove/defer all non-critical scripts

Sum the file sizes of all DEFER + REMOVE scripts. This is your potential LCP improvement in bytes.

Note which scripts can be replaced with lighter alternatives

Example: Replace a 90KB chat widget with a 5KB "click to chat" link. Replace Hotjar (200KB) with a free alternative.

Image Audit

The biggest quick wins are almost always here

List every image on the page with its current format and file size

DevTools → Network → filter "Img". Note format (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP) and transferred size for each.

Identify the LCP image (the largest element visible in the initial viewport)

This is usually the hero/banner image. Optimizing this single image has the biggest impact on your PageSpeed score.

Set target format and compressed size for each image

Target: WebP format, hero under 150KB, body images under 80KB, icons under 10KB. Use Squoosh.app to test.

Check for oversized images displayed smaller than their actual dimensions

A 2000px image displayed at 400px wastes 80% of its bandwidth. Resize to match display dimensions.

Calculate total image savings if all images are converted to WebP at target sizes

Sum current image weight minus target weight. This is often 500KB-2MB of savings on image-heavy GHL pages.

Budget Targets

Set hard limits - anything over budget gets cut

Set total page weight budget: under 1MB for landing pages, under 1.5MB for long-form

Google recommends under 1.6MB total. For ad landing pages, under 1MB correlates with 90+ PageSpeed scores.

Set JavaScript budget: under 200KB total (all scripts combined)

Every 100KB of JS adds ~300ms of parse time on mid-range mobile devices. 200KB is the sweet spot for GHL pages.

Set image budget: under 500KB total (all images combined)

With WebP compression and proper sizing, most GHL funnel pages can hit this target with 4-6 images.

Set font budget: under 100KB total (all font files combined)

Limit to 2 font families and 2-3 weights each. Subset fonts to Latin characters if serving US audiences.

Calculate the gap between current weight and budget for each category

This gap is your optimization roadmap. Largest gaps = biggest opportunities. Prioritize by gap size.

Priority Actions

Rank by impact, execute in order, verify after each change

Rank all optimizations by estimated PageSpeed impact (high / medium / low)

High = image compression, script removal. Medium = lazy loading, font optimization. Low = CSS cleanup, minification.

Estimate implementation time for each optimization (quick / half-day / full-day)

Quick wins first: image compression takes 15 min. Script audits take 1-2 hours. CSS rewrites take a full day.

Assign an owner for each optimization task

Image work = designer. Script audit = developer. GHL settings = whoever manages the sub-account.

Set a deadline: complete all high-impact items within 1 week

Speed improvements compound. Doing all high-impact fixes at once maximizes the before/after delta for reporting.

Plan a re-audit after implementing changes to measure actual improvement

Run PageSpeed Insights again after all changes. Compare scores to baseline. Document for stakeholder reporting.

Schedule a monthly budget check to catch regressions from new scripts or images

New GTM tags, chat widgets, and images creep in over time. A monthly 10-minute audit prevents gradual slowdown.
