I Got a Phone Call Today. No Idea Where They Found Me.
Got a call this morning from a prospect in Georgia. Good conversation. Real opportunity. Then I hung up and asked the question every business owner should be asking: "Where did they find us?"
So I pulled the data. Checked Google Analytics for the last 7 days. Found 4 visitors from Georgia - none from the caller's area. Checked Search Console. Zero matching queries. No trail anywhere.
And it hit me: this is the exact problem most service businesses have every single day. Leads show up and you have no idea what's actually working. You can't double down on what's driving results if you can't see the results.

That's why we've been building AI-powered systems for our clients. Not because AI is trendy. Because it does the work that never got done in the first place - the follow-ups nobody had time to send, the data nobody had time to check, the leads that slipped away because everyone was busy with the customer in front of them.

What We Built This Week |
A client was losing leads every day and didn't even know it. Now nothing slips through.
Here's what was happening: a potential customer would call their office. Front desk was with someone. Phone rang and went to voicemail. The caller hung up, Googled the same service, and called the next business on the list. That business picked up. Booked the job. Done.
The first business never knew it happened. There's no alert for "you just lost a customer." It just doesn't show up. And it was happening every single day.
So we built 3 things:
📱
60-second missed call text-back. Someone calls and nobody picks up? They get a text within a minute: "Hey, sorry I missed your call. I'm with a client - can I help you over text or call you right back?" Automated. Feels personal. Keeps the lead warm.
📨
14-day follow-up sequence. New lead comes in from anywhere - call, form, website. AI triggers a sequence of texts and emails over 2 weeks. Each one is different. Each one feels like it's coming from a real person. Most businesses send one email and give up. This doesn't.
👀
Website visitor alerts. Someone visits the site, looks at services, checks pricing - then leaves without calling. Most businesses never know that person existed. We set up a system that identifies who they are and triggers a follow-up. One client closed 2 jobs last month from people who never filled out a form.

The honest part:
Even with all of this, I still couldn't trace today's phone call. No system catches everything. A referral from a friend, a podcast someone listened to in the car, a conversation at a networking event - those don't show up in any dashboard. But the difference between seeing 20% of your leads and seeing 80% changes every decision you make about where to spend your time and money. You'll never get to 100%. But going from "I have no idea" to "I can see most of the picture" is a different business.

78%
of customers buy from the first business that responds to their inquiry. Not the best. Not the cheapest. The fastest. (Lead Connect / InsideSales.com)

Quick Win: Do This Before Friday |
Call your own business. See what happens.
Seriously. Use a number your staff won't recognize. Let it ring. See what happens.
Does someone pick up within 3 rings? Does the voicemail sound professional? Does anyone follow up within 5 minutes? Or does the call just vanish into nothing?
Then submit a form on your own website. Time how long it takes to get a response. If it's more than 5 minutes, you're losing leads. If it's more than an hour, you're losing a lot of them.
